About
Wood Land shows explorations of woods, wood, trees and the land through painting and sculptural pieces.
Martin Fidler's paintings have a complex dynamism, capturing the forms and colours of woodland in all its stages of life. At once immediately recognisable and abstracted, they draw the viewer into their world.
Many of the sculptural pieces by Tim Chesters seem first to be functional items but their forms have been dictated as much by the wood as the maker, subverting function and letting the nature of the material speak.
