About
Through refining the process of painting from life, Alex aims to create a little magic from the mundane, inviting the viewer to slow down and contemplate the wonders of the ordinary
Alex originally worked as a freelance illustrator producing book cover art for a variety of publishers, and he was subsequently represented by a prominent illustration agency to create surreal photorealistic imagery. In more recent years he has discovered an affinity for observational painting, primarily in the genre of still life. Aside from experimenting with the traditional techniques of fine art, he relishes painting in oils directly from life, and the creative dimensions of pursuing this approach to contemporary realism. His paintings are a meditation on aspects of nature and explore themes such as the sublime beauty found in the transitory nature of life. Alex's paintings have been shown in prestigious juried exhibitions, and his commissioned work displays high quality craftsmanship across a broad diversity of genres.
