Dorothy Hartley, the author of `Food in England' and 'Made in England' lived in Froncysyllte, near Llangollen, for most of her life. Her books are practical manuals for traditional skills associated with the home and the kitchen, but are also a form of social history, calling into notice the food that has been cultivated and prepared by people for their everyday domestic life.
The legacy of writers such as Hartley can be seen in the work of Florence White, Patience Gray, Alice B Toklas, Elisabeth Luard, Elizabeth David, Jane Grigson, Jocasta Innes, JoJo Tulloh and Hattie Ellis. Their writing champions the kind of food made for friends and family in the home.
The design and illustration of these books is a large part of their appeal and this was brought to a mass audience through publishers such as Penguin, Faber, Persephone Books.
The Women in Print Chapbooks and a specially commissioned print work by Alice Patullo will be available.

Roedd Dorothy Hartley, awdures ‘Food in England'’ a ‘Made in England’ yn byw yn y Fron, ger Lloegr, ran helaethaf ei bywyd. Creodd hi lawlyfrau ymarferol ar gyfer sgiliau traddodiadol y cartref a’r gegin, ond maen nhw hefyd yn fath o hanes cymdeithasol, gan dynnu sylw at y bwyd a baratowyd gan bobl gyffredin ar gyfer eu bywyd bob dydd.

Gwelir dylanwad awduron megis Hartley yng ngwaith Florence White, Patience Gray, Alice B Toklas, Elizabeth David, Jane Grigson, Jocasta Innes, Jo Jo Tulloh a Hattie Ellis, i enwi dim ond rhai. Mae eu hysgrifennu’n hyrwyddo’r math o fwyd a baratowyd ar gyfer ffrindiau a theulu yn y cartref.

Daeth dyluniad a lluniau’r llyfrau hyn i sylw cynulleidfa eang drwy gyhoeddwyr megis Penguin, Faber a Persephone.

Bydd llyfrau Merched mewn Print a gwaith a gomisiynwyd yn arbennig gan Alice Patullo ar gael.http://www.facebook.com/events/282833925433115/
