About
@nicholajaneart
'Post-landscape’ is turn Nichola coined for her work that is a framework to investigate the relationship between nature and culture, to suggest a way of rethinking traditional landscape and create a new kind of interaction. She critically examines the patriarchy language of men as culture and women as nature with ideas around eco feminism, gendering nature.Nichola offers connections between the body, object and experience within nature, to create visual autobiographies and narratives within sublime spaces of the environment and mind. Interwoven structures resemble a network, in which everything is interconnected, even elements that would not naturally fit into that context. In this way new levels of meaning are created “Identity” arises through such connections and brings forth the freedom to engage in the unknown.

Thread Bare Woman is an exploration of womanhood in midlife. Susan McKenna uses themes of domestic and sexual identity, loss, inheritance and media image to explore how external forces influence the internal narrative and lived experience of today’s woman in midlife. By holding space for women to share their stories Susan seeks to explore how women strive to move beyond projected labels and societal expectations whilst confronting their own selfward facing opinions and navigating the hormonally turbulent path that is perimenopause and menopause.
