Witnessing the world
About
Scottish Photographer Roddy Mackay first developed an interest in Photography back in 1997 but it wasn't until he was living in London some five years later that this fascination with the captured image really took off. After his return to Scotland in 2004, Roddy soon began working in a leading Glasgow Portrait Studio while spending his spare time taking personal images and gaining work experience alongside some of Scotland's leading press photographers at the Glasgow Herald and the Sunday Herald. His later freelance work for some of Scotland's leading Broadsheet newspaper saw him shortlisted for the tittle of Scottish Young Photographer of the year in April 2006.
"Witnessing the world" brings together a collection of Roddy's imagery from across four continents, mixing powerful images of poverty from Africa and Romania with the simple scenes of the land and the architecture which lies beyond the lens of the traveling photographer.
