The Baytree Centre will be holding a photography exhibition displaying the work of girls aged 15 who attend the 'With Open Eyes' photography club.
About
Nadia Bettega, lead photographer of the course, has been teaching the girls techniques and they have investigated a number of styles and the work of influential photographers. The girls have taken these and combined them with their own ideas to take the photographs in the exhibition. The course encouraged the girls to live 'With Open Eyes' and take photographs that reflect how they see their world. This is the second exhibition the With Open Eyes project has created with The Baytree Centre. The Baytree Centre is a social inclusion project for women and girls based in Brixton. Our aim is to change aspirations into realities. We offer training, education and volunteering opportunities to empower women to gain employment, develop their personal, social and work skills and help prevent the cycle of social exclusion within their own families. Our youth service offers after school activities to 5 to 18 year olds, helping them to develop their personal and social skills and increase their self-esteem to prevent them from moving towards social exclusion.
