About

Throughout November and December the White Lion Street Gallery in Tenby will  be showing a seasonal and ever-changing exhibition of exciting new paintings and original prints by professional artists from South Wales and beyond together with pottery, glass and wood by established makers.

Pembrokeshire is represented by the pointillist oil paintings of Guy Manning, acrylic paintings by Margaret Welsh, the oil landscapes of Jon Houser and Damien Dowling, water based paintings by Andrea Kelland, pottery by Simon and Bryony Rich and a range of glass from fine jewellery to stained glass panels by Neil Croucher. Yvette Brown is showing a collection of humorous mini sculptures and brooches made from pewter.

The fine collection of artists from the former Dyfed area includes the colourful watercolour paintings of Dorian Spencer Davies, coastal landscapes in acrylic by Lyndon Thomas and Elaine Graham, wildfowl in the snow by Tim Jenkins, abstract mixed media paintings by Patricia McParlin and oil paintings by Glenn Ibbitson. Pottery by Mick Morgan, David Small and Vivienne Albiston together with turned wood by Gary Brine are also sourced from this area.

From further afield we find Beatrice Williams who paints the homes and villages of the valleys, imbuing them with the humour and warmth associated with their communities; Judith Stroud and Ann Lewis who produce stylish lino prints; Phil Parry’s calm coastal oil paintings; Dai David’s superb backlit oils and Penelope Timmis’ new collection of paintings based on a weekend in Pembrokeshire. Pottery from Barbara Lock is on a theme of birds.

Artists who have yet to submit their work include Andrew Douglas Forbes, David Bellamy, Bert Evans and Colin Finn. Artwork by other artists is arriving every day and new paintings will replace sold work to maintain a large mixed exhibition in all media, all sizes and all prices. Taken together with the work shown in other parts of the gallery this represents an enormous collection of original art and craft to suit all tastes. Gift vouchers for any amount are also available.

The gallery, in White Lion Street, Tenby, near the new Premier Inn is open from 10 am until 5pm every day except for Wednesdays and Sundays.  The exhibition starts on 2nd November and continues until 24th December.  Everything can be viewed on the gallery website: www.artmatters.org.uk and for further information telephone 01834-843375.
