William Foster launches his first solo exhibition at Gallery 27, Cork Street from 22 27 June 2009.
The exhibition is testimony to Foster's distinctive bold style and vibrant use of colour. His work has an energy and crispness directly influenced by his observation of bright colours, people and movement in different environments. He explores this in his portraits, cityscapes, seascapes, still lives and motorcycle paintings, in a variety of mediums including oil, acrylic and watercolour.
Following a radical change of career Foster has focused for the past year on this body of work, which is both a personal project and journey. His dedication is evident in the rich variety of subject matter and technique.
He recently visited Morocco finding inspiration in the country's contrasts: the chaos of the souk, the calm of the sunrise, the hustle on the quayside, the hum of conversation in a city garden. Watercolours and sketches from his trip are included in the forthcoming exhibition.
