The Austrian Cultural Forum New York is pleased to present WILD WEST, a group exhibition commemorating the dynamic legacy of late Austrian artist Franz West.

About

Curated by former West-collaborator Andreas Reiter Raabe, the show consists of works by Franz West, his New York-based contemporaries, and commissioned works by emerging artists from both New York and Austria.

The Federal President of the Republic of Austria, Dr. Alexander Van der Bellen, will deliver the welcoming remarks.

The evening will also feature a live concert by Philipp Quehenberger (keyboard), Didi Kern (drums), Juini Booth (bass), Marta Mikulec (visuals), and Theresa Eipeldauer (visuals).

ABOUT THE CONCERT
Austrian musicians Philipp Quehenberger (Keyboards) and Didi Kern (Drums) have been playing together since 2002. Their music ranges from "brutal stormy outbreaks to wobbly explorations of time and space and is the harvest of countless meetings, be it in art galleries, clubs, concert halls or smokey dives, they regularly blow away the audience" (Rokkos Adventures). They are joined by American bass player Juini Booth who has worked with Sun Ra Arkestra, The Tony Williams Lifetime, Mcoy Tyner, Freddy Hubbard and Art Blakey. As a trio they recorded the Album Who's That in 2011. The recording session was attended by just one guest, Franz West. During the performance the soundwaves will be visualized in an installation by Vienna-based artists Marta Mikulec and Theresa Eipeldauer.

Artists on view:
Franz West, Rudolf Stingel, Urs Fischer, Andreas Reiter Raabe/Franz West, Mary Heilmann, Rudolf Polanszky, Octavian Trauttmansdorff, Anna-Sophie Berger, Tillman Kaiser, Sarah Lucas, Anne Schneider, Rirkrit Tiravanija, KAYA (Kerstin Brätsch / Debo Eilers)
