Wild Service is an exhibition of works made by Tom Sewell, Leah Stewart, Sebastian Thomas and Isabel Wilkinson during a studio residency at Kingsgate Project Space during Jan - Feb 2019.

About

Wild Service marks the end of a two month collaborative takeover of Kingsgate Project Space during which artists Tom Sewell, Leah Stewart, Sebastian Thomas and Isabel Wilkinson have used the space as a shared studio for research and to produce new work. Wild Service explores themes of the relationship between industry and nature, survivalism, food, foraging, forestry, ritual and domestic magic. Featuring natural dyes, sticks, eggs, giant bananas and plate fungi made out of plaster.

As part of Wild Service, we will be holding a reading group in the exhibition space on Saturday 2nd March 6.30-9pm to discuss texts explored during the residency. We'll be reading and discussing Thomas Nagel's essay Panpsychism, as well as sections from Luce Irigaray and Michael Marder's book Through Vegetal Being. All welcome! Texts will be read aloud by the group, no prior reading is necessary.
