Wild is a celebration of wildlife through the eyes and hands of four very talented artists, all of whom draw their inspiration from the natural environment but use very different techniques.

About

Tara Winona - Winona imbues her animals with emotion and stories from her own life, such that her paintings almost become self-portraits. Using a minimal colour palette, she seeks beauty in simplicity, leaving space for the imagination. Her technique is one of flow and chance, embracing the unpredictable nature of watercolour and acrylic inks. She allows her paints to have their own voice. It is as if life is expressing itself.

Adam Binder - Where possible the subjects for Adam’s bronze wildlife sculptures are acutely observed and studied in their natural environment, a process that enables him to remove the extraneous detail without losing veracity and concentrate on capturing the spirit of the animal through understated movement and suggestion.

Eben Rautenbach - As a self-taught artist he tried various mediums but it was the rawness and organic feel of pyrography that drew his attention and allowed him to express his love for the use of natural elements. The wood is as important as the image burnt on it and is brought back to life through the added art.

Stephen Page - Stephen Page’s sculptures focus on the essence of the creature; excess information is stripped away and the shapes are honed down and simplified creating a pure smooth skin in order to observe form and space with the utmost clarity. This economy of means gives the work a timelessness and permanence, and under their silent outer appearance, they nurture an aspiration to universal form.
