The White Room Gallery's Tenth Annual Christmas Exhibition

About

The White Room Gallery presents an exhibition of work by Horace Panter, best known as co-founder of The Specials. Horace studied Fine Art at Coventry Lanchester Polytechnic, graduating in 1975. While there he met Jerry Dammers, a fellow student, and together they founded The Specials and the 2-Tone music record label. In 2010, Horace decided to exhibit his art work publicly. This new exhibition features paintings and prints based on the traditions of iconography, but with a contemporary twist. He merges various images and styles into his paintings, so they often contain some intertextuality and he describes his work as ‘appropriation and subversion'. Work by Jamie Byrne will also be introduced at this exhibition. His work draws inspiration from song lyrics including Rock N Roll to Soul. He is a new talent whose bold; eye catching work is often described as a visual jukebox. The White Room Gallery has been established in Leamington Spa since 2002 and specialises in abstract and contemporary art. Now one of the city's most established galleries, The White Room has shown work by new artists from across the UK helping cement its reputation as the place to go for quality and beautiful work.
