Where There Were Once Walls is the culmination of the first iteration of RAKE Community, a programme for writers, artists and researchers to facilitate collaborative investigations and data visualisation.
About
Featuring works by RAKE Collective and RAKE Community 2020 participants: Gülce Tulçalı & Fraser Crichton, Paula Morison & Julian Brown, Nathaniel White, and Agustina Palazzo & Irma Aguilar-Delfín
The current global climate has highlighted the need for accessible online communal spaces as well as an alternative independent medium. RAKE Community aims to build a framework for socially and politically driven projects whilst promoting accessible exchange outside of traditional routes or institutions.
The initial programme brought together eight participants in four pairs across varied fields of expertise to share skills and ideas. Not limited by locations or rigid field divides; practitioners are interested in expanding their work through new analytical processes of research and cross-disciplinary visual expression. The selected practitioners have produced collaborative investigative pieces over the course of eight weeks, facilitated by RAKE members. Their works will be exhibited alongside the second iteration of RAKE Collective’s current project, We May Meet One Day.
The online launch event will be taking place via Zoom on the 31st July at 6pm BST and can be booked via Eventbrite. The digital exhibition will be held at www.communityrake.com for one month until the 31st August, alongside an IG Live events programme bringing together investigators, researchers and multidisciplinary artists to give educational talks, discuss methods of gathering and visualising data and share resources. Speakers will be announced at @rake.collective leading up to the launch on 31st July and throughout the show.
