Drawing on historical evidence of secret 'Bals Des Victimes', this new piece combines text, music and dance to tell the story of revolution and what comes after, written by internationally acclaimed playwright Mark Ravenhill.

About

The Terror of the French Revolution is coming to an end. A group of young aristocrats meet in secret : to dance and to mourn. As they re-enact the history of the guillotine, they attempt to come to terms with the loss of their families. And to assert their belief that the days of the revolution have ended. Soon the old order will be back in power.

Drawing on historical evidence of secret 'Bals Des Victimes', this new piece combines text, music and dance to tell the story of revolution and what comes after.

'when the terror has ended the victims will dance' is the the Premiere of a new play by Mark Ravenhill.

In the UK, his works have also been produced at the National Theatre, Donmar Warehouse, Barbican Theatre, Soho Theatre, RSC, Lyric Hammersmith and Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh. Mark recently wrote a new play for the Lyric Hammersmith’s Secret Theatre series, as well as a new libretto for the Norwegian National Opera.
