About

A triple bill of musicians at the forefront of technological and musical innovation.

Immerse yourself in a holographic universe inspired by myths and fairytales, be astounded at the musical virtuosity possible using bicycle wheels, and experience a string symphony like no other. A triple bill of musicians at the forefront of technological and musical innovation.

The triple bill starts at 7.30pm, with two intervals. Please note that these performances contain strobe lighting.

  • Alexis Langevin-Tétrault – Interferences (String Network) (20min)

An audiovisual performance that explores the possibilities of visually interpreting an electroacoustic work in real time using a unique audiovisual device.

On stage, an audio-reactive play of light is revealed gradually: Alexis Langevin-Tétrault progressively builds a network of strings with which he interacts in order to create a sound universe that brings together electronica and electroacoustic music. His interaction with the device directs the behaviour of the audiovisual system and allows the interpretation of the work. Interference (String Network) offers an allegory of the modern globalized and interconnected world in which the individual seeks to draw a sense of his experience and tries to retain his freedom of action.

This project was created thanks to the support of the Conseil des Arts et Letres du Québec, the Château Éphémère – Fabrique sonore et numérique (Fr), the Université de Montréal and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.

  • QUADr Electroacoustic quartet – / cYcle (20min)

/ cYcle is an electroacoustic piece that mainly uses bike wheels and explores the sound and visual possibilities induced by their manipulation. Immersed in audio-reactive visual projections, the musicians play on modified bicycle wheels with which they create a large variety of electronic sounds, from deep impacts to bowed strings harmonies, interpreting the electroacoustic composition written by the ensemble. Also using folly techniques, modular synthesizers, a graphics tablet and visual projections, they build an abstract audiovisual narrative and performance focused on the musical interaction between performers. The artists take up different roles, constantly changing the stage dynamic and revealing new instruments and new musical interactions throughout the show.

Quadr are composers and performers of post-rock, acousmatic and electronic music, and bring you a unique creation: dark and at the forefront of technological experimentations and musical innovations.

  • Tinderdust – The Forest of Phantasmagorias (30min)

Immerse yourself in a holographic universe as fairytales unfold before you in Tinderdust's The Forest of Phantasmagorias. This augmented reality, live music performance utilises cutting edge holographic technology to evoke majestic Sphinxes, caustic bees that annihilate minds, spellbinding forces of nature, and fantastical creatures that lie deep within digital microcosms. The performance draws on the subconscious and our imagination, and is a testament of how the mind can be visually awoken by sound, and summoned to mysterious, digital realms.
