What Lies Beneath: Small, Colourful Post-Pandemic Paintings and Sculptures

About

Lois Schklar’s exhibition, What Lies Beneath, is a departure from her minimal line drawing installations. To get through the darkness of Covid, she created a “happy place” by obsessively mixing colors and applying them to an assortment of small canvases and boards she had accumulated over the years. The resulting work is an exploration of different techniques for applying paint to a surface while playing with colour both on and off the canvas.

Now, Schklar wants to share her “happy place” with others and invites the public to a special viewing of What Lies Beneath in the intimate space of Thus Gallery, an informal exhibition space  just north of the hustle and bustle of Queen Street west.
