About
As more and more writing becomes electronic, what is the future for the craft skills and material objects showcased in the British Library’s current exhibition Writing: Making Your Mark exhibition? In this lecture, Professor Ewan Clayton, the external advisor to the exhibition, discusses what writing is, how it works and what the future might hold for one of humanity’s most significant achievements.
Ewan Clayton is a calligrapher, author and Professor in Design at the University of Sunderland. He is also a Core Programme tutor on the Royal Drawing School’s postgraduate course. His book on the history of writing, The Golden Thread, was issued by Atlantic in 2013 and has been translated into a number of languages. As well as external advisor to Writing: Making Your Mark, he is also editor and contributing author to the exhibition’s accompanying book.
