What do you sea?, a video-installation project by artist Daniele Costa and curatorial collective CampoBase, develops around the evocation and memory of surrogates of the sea, suggested by the architecture of the Piscina Cozzi in Milan, the physical location from which the research begins.

Starting with the emergence of material from the Touring Club Italiano archive, the work brings together images, videos and texts from heterogeneous sources. The editing technique, the superimposition of windows and the colouring of the images create a temporal and spatial continuum that collapses past and present into one another, superimposing sea water and swimming pool water. The script that accompanies the video is made up of fragments that are linked and dialogue with each other and with the images.

The alternative space to the sea - what in one of the Touring Club's historical magazines is defined as "The sea of those who have no sea" - is explored on a sound level by the sound design intervention of Mauro Martinuz and Marco Furlanetto.

The work will be presented during Archivissima - Il Festival degli archivi, in the mosaic bathroom of the Piscina Cozzi, a 1930s space normally inaccessible to the public, which will be reopened on the occasion of the exhibition.

To accompany the exhibition, a talk will be streamed by the CampoBase collective, Daniele Costa and Davide Francalanci, a Video Sound Art researcher, who will talk about the work and the research process.
