Contemporary landscapes in acrylic, oil and charcoal on the theme of water, from Canary Wharf to Constable Country
About
Wendy Brooke-Smith’s paintings explore transience and contrast in the landscape: strongly planted in the ‘here and now’ of contemporary London or rural East Anglia, yet mindful of layers of history and artistic precedent. Brooke-Smith challenges us to look beyond cultural clichés and iconography to what we really see, not what we know or ‘ought to see’. In this wide-ranging solo exhibition she celebrates the bare elements of landscape: colour, shape, structure, light, energy - and water!
In the seven years since she graduated in Fine Art from UCS, Wendy Brooke-Smith has established herself as a landscape artist of some repute, with successful solo exhibitions and corporate commissions to her name.
