A cheeky and charmful new show staring bold Pop Art textile works all hand-stiched by former Spice Girls fashion designer, Lissie Baldwin.
About
Designer turned artist Lissie Baldwin has designed and worked with the likes of The Spice Girls, Zoe Ball, Liberty, Whistles and Denise Van Outen. When Lissie owned her established fashion label, her work was often featured in popular high and low brow magazines and newspapers such as Hello!, Elle, The Telegraph, The Sunday & New York Times and many more.
London based artist, Lissie graduated with a Masters in fashion from Central St Martins in 1994 and then went on to set up her own fashion label which allowed her to work and design for celebrities and well respected brands.
Recognising the commercial appeal for her handmade, intricate designs, in 2004 Lissie began showing her work commercially in galleries in Central London with much success. Regularly exhibiting at The Affordable Art Fair London and New York and holding shows at Selfridges, Nigel Hall Menswear and Cockpit Arts.
Lissie’s works feature central characters which she stitches completely by hand, placed carefully around vintage fabrics such as Yves Saint Lauren, Gucci and Chanel and pieces of discarded materials. By seeing the value in everything she finds, she has the rare ability to turn ordinary in to the extraordinary, resulting in pieces full of charm, humour and wonderful energy.
