Where once there were hundreds of working woollen mills in Wales, today only a handful remain.
About
Those that do still run, however, continue a centuries old tradition, producing quality woollen products, from carthenni to shawls to rugs. In her recently published book, Melinau Gwlân – Woollen Mills of Wales, Branwen Davies portrays those dedicated and creative craftspeople at the helm of the modern-day Welsh mills, telling the story of the buildings and the businesses and looking at how they have managed to combine traditional methods with a contemporary approach to ensure their survival. In the gallery, admission Free
