Can a dehumidifier provide enough moisture to keep the plants in a flowerbed alive? This is the question that forms the starting point for We Florists and it is one that will be answered from 4 — 27 October at A Brooks Art. During this time a flowerbed and two dehumidifiers will occupy the gallery. While the gallery is open these dehumidifiers will take moisture from the air and drain this directly into the soil. We Florists is a site-specific response to the history of 194 -196 Hoxton Street and particularly its previous role as a florist. In this case visitors to the gallery have contributed all the flowers and plants used. The arrangement of the flowers has been made by Mark Brooks who ran this space as a florist before it became a gallery.
