Simon Roberts travelled throughout England in a motor home for this photographic enquiry into the character of Englishness: the most significant contribution to the photography of England in recent years. Roberts' large-format photographs, informed by the romantic tradition of English landscape painting, reveal the epic and often heart-warming nature of the English at leisure.
Roberts' photographs have been exhibited widely, with recent shows at the Klompching Gallery in New York and the Museum of Modern Art in Shanghai.
We English has been made possible by the generous support of the National Media Museum, Arts Council England and the John Kobal Foundation. Thanks also to Spectrum Photographic and Fuji Film.
