AboutWit and irony are as central to Edward Allington's sculptures as are classical themes and motifs, which he employs in new and often curious contexts. Time, history and the sense of how we are in an evolving world are also recurrent themes. In this exhibition the diversity found in his sculpture is paramount. His interest in the classical world of Greece and Rome shines through in references to the ancient artefacts and architectural details that he includes in his work.
Edward Allington is Professor, Director of Studies, Graduate Programmes; Graduate Tutor and Head of Graduate Sculpture at the Slade School of Fine Art, University College, London.
