MX Gallery presents Notable American Women, a three-person exhibition curated by Victoria Haynes, featuring new works by New York artists Wayne Gonzales, Victoria Haynes, and Chris Verene.
About
The exhibition features Verene’s photographs of women from the ongoing series, The Self-Esteem Salon, Gonzales’ photographs of the New Orleans waterfront, and Haynes’ multimedia works, including a collection of correspondences from residents of each of the fifty states in the USA. Notable American Women brings together bodies of work which record and manifest practices investigating communal forms from their conception, to maturation, to attrition. The artists make use of photography, ephemera, and sculpture to observe the formal qualities of community, at an historical moment in which those forms are sustaining rapid change.
