"Art is nothing if you don't reach every segment of the people." -Keith Haring

Martin Lawrence Galleries (MLG), in La Jolla located at, 1111 Prospect Street, La Jolla by the Sea, CA, embraced the Pop art movement in the 1960s, 70's and 80's-and its manipulative and symbolic culture-by creating collaborations with Andy Warhol and Keith Haring. MLG produced Warhol's: Campbell Soup Boxes (and holds one of the largest collections of Andy Warhol's in the world) and published Haring's Growing Suite and Limited-Edition catalog-Keith Haring 1988, a one-man exhibition in Los Angeles of paintings, drawings and prints.

"Voyeurism is a director's job description. It's an artist's too"-Andy Warhol

MLG's latest additions to their collection of world-class artists include Takashi Murakami, BradFaine, Mark Kostabi, René Lalonde and Keith Haring. Murakami often called the "Warhol of Japan', coined the term superflat, which describes both the aesthetic characteristics of Japanese artistic tradition and the nature of post-war Japanese culture and society.  His artistic style and motifs are uniquely his own. (childlike anime-esque characters rendered in bright colors, flat and highly glossy surfaces).

"We want to see the newest things. That is because we want to see the future, even if only momentarily. It is the moment in which, even if we don't completely understand what we have glimpsed, we are nonetheless touched by it. This is what we have come to call art"-Takashi Murakami
