Opening in June 11, Galeria Marilia Razuk is pleased to announce Voadoras, José Bechara’s new solo show. In this exhibition the artist presents about 20 recent works including paintings on flat glass and metal oxidation on canvas and truck´s used canvas.

About

These two sets of works made in different materials and distributed throughout the two rooms of the gallery, seek to establish poetic convergences between them.

The use of glasses in Bechara’s work is recent. Starting his plastic investigations with this material in 2010, it is since 2013 when Bechara presents new experimentations incorporating other elements and new procedures. It is expected that the whole of the work reveals, among other things, the artist's relationship with space, ranging from a virtual to a real one, to the extent that it implies the reorganization of the architectural space. It is important to note that it is important for the artist to situate his work between these genders. Therefore, what you see is sometimes a pictorial experience, some other times a sculptural experience.

On the other hand, the paintings made of metal emulsion oxidation on truck´s used canvas are inserted throughout this two-decade research. However, with the introduction of a new palette, these works not only externalize the result of this long research, but also bring new relationships that open new and risky possibilities for the coming works.

About the artist

José Bechara (Rio de Janeiro, 1957) began his production in the late 80's, and has worked since then in the field of painting. He develops his language in a diverse use of methods and materials, allowing us new experiences in the pictorial field. Instead of white canvas, he uses tarps marked by goods, roads, accidents and practices from a far away universe of that of the traditional painter's craft. Instead of color pigments and brushes, is the ferruginous matter eroded by time what creates its chromatic effects. In recent years, he has been carrying out sculptural works, interventions and photographs, being the issue of the house and its various implications his working object.
