Florian & Michael Quistrebert

About

For the first exhibition of 2015, we are proud to present hypnotic abstract videos and paintings by the collaborative French brothers Michael (born 1976) and Florian (born 1982) Quistrebert. Based in Paris and Amsterdam, the artists were recently nominated for the prestigious Marcel Duchamp Prize and have been increasingly recognised for their intense and immersive works. Visions of Void, their largest exhibition in the UK to date is kindly supported by the Institut français d’Ecosse where a small complementary selection of video works will also be presented.

Genesis Breyer P-Orridge summarises their practice in his Shadows and Mirrorsessay: “The Quistrebert Brothers offer a covert portal into alternate viabilities of pattern, primary shape and intersection.” Recent exhibitions include: the Prix Marcel Duchamp 2014 at FIAC, The Grand Palais, Paris; Leto Gallery, Warsaw; Galerie Crèvecoeur, Paris; Galerie Juliette Jongma, Amsterdam; and the Kunstraum, London.

Visions of Void turns the DCA gallery into an atmospheric chamber of flickering fire, shadowy space and gleaming canvases.
