About
Viola Bittl, born in 1980, studied with Sean Scully in Munich from 2004 to 2008 and completed her studies as a master student of Christa Näher at the Städelschule Frankfurt. After a studio scholarship from the Hessian Cultural Foundation in New York (2017/2018), she was a fellow at the International House of Artists Villa Concordia in Bamberg in 2024/2025. Bittl was involved in the major survey exhibition Jetzt! Young Painting in Germany (2019/2020) at the Kunstmuseen Bonn, Wiesbaden, Chemnitz and the Deichtorhallen Hamburg. In 2024, the Städtisches Museum Emden presented an extensive solo exhibition by Viola Bittl with an accompanying catalog. Viola Bittl has been a regular artist at Walter Storms Galerie since her first exhibition at Schellingstraße in 2024.
The exhibition presents the results of her Bamberg residency: six large-format paintings, two medium-sized paintings and several works on paper.
Visits are by appointment only and take place at a different location, not at Schellingstraße.
