"All through our lives, burdened with religious principles, desire has been associated to sin, envy and greed; associated to physical urges and desires: «
About
wanting to piss », « wanting to defecate », « wanting to fuck », « wanting to throw up »... so many urges a human being strives to stifle and hide or otherwise he’d be sent straight to hell !
A man of high moral standards will tend to qualify his urges as desires, associating them to something dignified, spiritual matters, transcendence... My characters, they seem to be very far from such aspirations. They are satisfied with being alive; beyond good and evil; and well beyond any considerations brought about by outside contingencies. They do not speak their desires and urges, they live them!
They experience them and they also share them, making no concessions. They do not suppress any of their impulses, they do not judge themselves or others. None of them repress their impulsive urges, the life surge, and they are all equal in that sense: they have no shame and no guilt.
They have just made the choice to live, not to die out asphyxiated by their unfulfilled impulses, given that the urges we suppress on account of morality, decency and religion inevitably end up killing us, turning us into tired creatures whose desires disappear, one after another, dragging down with them our very will to live."
