Faye Claridge will bring an exhibition of her Village Green Screen project to Hereford Museum & Art Gallery for two weeks this February, examining the controversial use of face paint to create the distinctive Border Morris dance ‘blackface’ style. The project is commissioned by Meadow Arts.
About
Faye’s photographic portraits of Morris dancers with their faces covered in various ways will be shown as large-scale prints, along with the original model of the Village Green Screen, other items relating to her research and film from the festival.
The artwork is intended to stimulate debate and members of the public can post comments in the exhibition’s postbox and join in on social media, using the hashtag #VillageGreenScreen and tagging @fayeclaridge and @meadowarts.
