About

Like during the last Videonale.14 in 2013, das esszimmer is part of the current edition of Videonale.Parcours. The VIDEONALE.PARCOURS, held for the first time at the last Videonale.14, will again take place in an extended form, during videonale.15. In 2015, we will present 19 works by students from three colleges of art: The State Academy of Fine Arts Saarland, the Academy of Media Arts Cologne and the State Academy of Art and Design Stuttgart. The Videonale.Parcours is curated by Jennifer Gassmann und Tasja Langenbach. At das Esszimmer the video Magic Garden at Lonely Beach (2014, Video, 11:41 min., 16:9) by Katharina Jabs is exhibited. Katharina Jabs studies at the State Academy of Art and Design Stuttgart. link: http://dasesszimmer.com/en/2015-videonale-parcours/ __ We are proudly presenting the solo exhibition Film Live by the successful experimental film-maker Helga Fanderl (Frankfurt a.M./Paris) at DAS ESSZIMMER - space for art+ and therefore would like to invite you to the opening auf the exhibition. Helga Fanderl is a film artist, who captures the experienced moment. – Her films are created exclusively in the camera. The turning on and switching off is the cut. There is no later montage or postproduction. The films are in Super 8 Format and without sound. The focus lies on the creation of the film during the filming. The alienation by cinematic means transform familiar images and impressions into a Terra Incognita which has to be discovered. In the street-sided showroom the film The Color Run enlarged to 16 mm will be exhibited on demand. In the rear showroom the model of a Cinema will be set up in which Helga Fanderl will present a programme composed of Super 8 films – Film Live, how she calls it, during the opening and at the end of the exhibition. In the installation The Color Run and in two Film Live programmes film as film and therefore the screening itself is the central theme. By that mean the operating of the film-projector, the change of the film roles, the focusing of the image and the adjustment of the splice position, the program introduction by the artist as well as the following conversations about her films become a performative act and at the same time part of the shown Super 8 programme. We thank for the support of Sparda-Bank West.
