For the Video Documentation Workshop for Artists we are calling artists and creatives of any form who wish to document their work through video!

About

On June 22nd 2019, Montreal-based South Korean multimedia artist and SomoS artist-in-residence Ivetta Sunyoung Kang will host a workshop at SomoS on how to document your artwork through the means of video and the moving image.

Departing from two-dimensional photographic documentation, video-documentation allows for a more dynamic representation of an artist’s work. It may capture the atmosphere or depth of an artwork in a way not afforded by the still-image. Video documentation is particularly valuable for artists working with elements such as movement, three-dimensional form, duration, ephemerality, space, participation, interaction and immersion.

In this workshop, Sunyoung Kang will introduce you to the technique of video documentation and teach you how to shoot, edit and process a short video that documents your artwork.

Video-documented works may be presented in an artist’s digital portfolios or on their website, and may also be used for applications, presentations and lectures.

Spots for the Video Documentation Workshop for Artists are limited, so please register by email at somos@somos-arts.org
