Join us at the Herbert and be transported back to Victorian England to discover a wealth of Christmas preparations and activities. With crafts to try making, cookery demonstrations, choir performances, object handling and spooky Victorian ghost stories in the medieval undercroft, there will be something to delight everyone. You may even get the chance to talk to our Medieval quack doctor as he wanders through the event space! Content suitable for 4+ years but all are welcome. FREE Activities include… Victorian Crafts drop in any time throughout the day. Decoupage gift bags, Victorian Christmas cards and decorations, cornucopias and lavender scented lavender bags. Mrs Posser's Kitchen ticketed throughout the day 11.30am, 12.30pm, 2.30pm 3.30pm. Meet Mrs Posser the Vctorian cook; watch and smell as she prepares foody delights for Christmas! Upstairs, Downstairs drop in at 11.30am & 2.30pm where you can hear about the busy life of a Victorian maid as she prepares the house for Christmas on behalf of her rather grand employers. There will be a chance to handle Victorian objects and dress up. Made in Coventry drop in at 12.30pm & 3.30pm. Hear from the hand ribbon weavers of Coventry. Learn about what they did and of the difficulties they faced during this time, as their work dried up due to the steam powered looms. The will be a chance to handle Victorian objects and dress up. Ghosts of the Past ticketed throughout the day, join us for a spooky visit to our dark, medieval undercroft and hear ghost stories about Coventry, from times past. Magic Lantern Show 11.30am -12.00pm, 1.30pm - 2.00pm, 3.30pm - 4.00pm. A rare opportunity to see a genuine Victorian magic lantern show, featuring moving slides, comical stories, sights, frights and optical surprises! Traditional Victorian Carols with Ensemble 1685 12.30pm - 1.00pm, 2.30pm - 3.00pm
