Vice & Versa connects contemporary artworks with specific locations in the church. The artworks are hidden in alcoves and chapels, and behind the choir. Both the church and the art—and vice versa—are thus viewed from a new perspective.

About

This third edition focuses on the human scale, the monumental scale of the church, and the harmony between the two.

Florence Marceau-Lafleur was inspired by the intimate dimensions of the Holy Spirit Chapel, which contrast with the scale of the church as a whole. These new works blend profane and religious references.

In the ambulatory, Frank Havermans is exhibiting KAPKAR/DOK-118, which is based on the varying proportions of the Oude Kerk (Old Church) in Amsterdam, where it was previously displayed. This installation mediates between the scale of the church and that of the human being.

For the Hondenslagerskapel, Lola Bezemer created a sculpture of fabric, ceramic, and metal that resonates with the existing ornaments and drapery reliefs in the baptistery opposite.

In the Christmas Chapel, Madelief van de Beek added a soft, comforting layer to the building's structure. Here you can lay your ear and listen in.

Every Wednesday from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, the exhibition is accessible directly from the Vishal. As well as Friday 29 August, during the opening of Oblique Strategies, where models by Frank Havermans, among others, will be on display.
