On October 18th 1974 Georges Perec decided to spend three consecutive days on Place Saint-Sulpice in Paris and record what usually isn’t recorded: „ what happens when nothing happens but time, people, cars and clouds.“
About
It was an attempt to transcibe reality, to make a note of the insignificant, the ‚infra-ordinary’, the background noise.
The exhibition „Versuch einen Platz in Berlin zu erfassen“ draws from this experiment. Methodically leaning to a greater or lesser extend on Perec’s play with time and place, the works of the eight participating female artists weave a net of analytic modells, realistic images, phantastic points of view and free associations off and upon Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, that redirects one’s gaze upon something seemingly well-known.
with works by Tina Born, Ursula Döbereiner, Kerstin Drechsel, Larissa Fassler, Susanne Huth, Annette Kisling, Barbara Trautmann, Petra Trenkel
