An exhibition exploring watercolours and the natural world.
About
Helen Otter
"Currently working in watercolour, Helen looks for light, colour, compositional structure in her subjects, finding these in abundance on the allotment, in the natural landscape. Tending the garden and allotment through the seasons, observing the diversity and structure of vegetation and its changes, provides a wealth of inspiration.
Helen Otter has exhibited in Norfolk, Suffolk, Gloucestershire and London, working both independently and in collaboration with other artists using a variety of media; paint, pencil, textiles, found objects, sound and video.
With a Masters in Fine Art from Norwich University of The Arts and as a qualified teacher of Art and Design she reflects that she continues to learn, that the best surprises and effects occur when the water flows, pigments mix freely and where the brush and resist facilitate without taking over – a challenging collaboration."
Juliet Hayward
"A response to the sap-rising, unfurling, chlorophyll saturated, sunlight dappled, let’s go out to the woods, easing warmth of Spring.
These recent works by Juliet Hayward are part of an ongoing exploration of the landscapes and woodlands in which she tramps and camps with her children. Outdoor space captured in watercolour and oils. A light touch with loose brushstrokes keeping colours fresh and greens flourishingly verdant.
Juliet Hayward completed her Masters in Fine Art alongside Helen Otter in 2008. She is exploring painting processes alongside raising her young family and enjoying teaching art in a Special School."
