At Art Rotterdam, the Verbeke Foundation presents a preview of the upcoming summer exhibition: installations by Theo Jansen (Strandbeest) and Zoro Feigl (Hula).
The Verbeke Foundation also commissioned a project by Ryan Mendoza. It is a house moved from Detroit to Europe, which after reassembling is going to be presented at the main entrance to Art Rotterdam. The Detroit house, an evident symbol of industrial and financial crisis and Western world decay and failure, as well as a firm part of American history, has been dismantled and shipped to Europe, thus being saved from demolition and oblivion. The short documentary about deconstructing the house will also be screened. After being exhibited at Art Rotterdam, the house is going to be moved back to the Verbeke Foundation where it will be on permanent display in the sculpture park surrounding the museum.
