The V22 Summer Club presents events, exhibitions, performances and screenings in collaboration with invited programming partners and artists, as well as new partners from Forest Hill and other local areas.

About

V22 is an art organisation with a shared ownership structure, which specialises in the collection of contemporary art, the production of exhibitions, events and educational initiatives, and the provision of artists’ studios, workspace and artisans' workshops.

We are delighted to announce that we will be hosting a new incarnation of our Summer Club in Forest Hill in 2016.

In 2012 the V22 Summer Club, supported by Arts Council England, took place in our large exhibition space at the Old Biscuit Factory in Bermondsey, during which we presented 252 events in partnership with over 1,200 artists and organisations.

This year it will take place in the old laundry building behind V22 Louise House in Forest Hill.  We are particularly excited that this will be the first series of public events to be hosted at this premises and that our long leasehold (125 years) enables us to develop this programme and these partnerships long-term and to form real roots in the community. The events will coincide with the first Forest Hill Arts Festival.

Programming partners are invited to present events and we also send out an open call for proposals, offering the opportunity to be part of the Summer Club to a diverse range of individuals and organisations. There is a rolling submissions system throughout the Summer Club.

The series will take place across four spaces: the Community Garden, the Large Gallery Space, the Community Studio and the Basement.

For the opening of the Summer Club, the public are invited to celebrate the history, present day and future of Louise House and Forest Hill. There will be an exhibition of historical and contemporary photographs and sound recordists will be recording people’s stories about the building and the area. Local artist and V22 studio holder, Rachel Emily Taylor will be holding a children’s workshop, in which the past tenants of the building will be re-imagined.
