Contemporary utopian movements fill the courtyard at Somerset House with interactive displays, events and activities promoting utopian ways of living in the 21st century.
About
This June, representatives from contemporary utopian movements from all over the UK will fill the Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court at Somerset House, celebrating the pockets of utopia that are flourishing around the country. At the Utopia Fair, visitors will be able to engage with utopian ways of living in the 21st century. Each stall will invite fair-goers to join in with interactive displays, events and activities and explore topics including the environment and city-living, food and fashion, community inclusiveness and arts and craft practices. The fair forms part of UTOPIA 2016: A Year of Imagination and Possibility, Somerset House’s year-long celebration of Thomas More’s ground-breaking work, and as such will encourage visitors to join in and experience utopia now, taking a little of the concept into their everyday lives. Activities include letterpress printing pamphlets with Utopian Works, with culinary offerings from the likes of Save the Date Café.
