The photo series "Size matters" by Anton Roland Laub will be on view as part of the group exhibition "Utopia", during the 4th edition of Monat der Fotografie OFF - Berlin, at Chaussee 36.

About

"Size matters", 2015-2019, deals with Ceaușescu's megalomaniac 'House of the People' in Bucharest. During its construction, Romania was rationalizing food, heating, electricity and was confronted with a penury of basic goods. In an ironical twist of history, this oversized symbol of communism became in the 90’s the headquarters of the Parliament.

„We can be sure, dear comrades and friends, that all the hurdles that need to be overcome are to be confronted in perfect unity with the entire people, in order to constantly strive for a world without classes, the most humane society of all, the communism! (Strong and long lasting applause, cheering 'Ceaușescu, Romania - our honour, our pride!')“ 30 March 1985, comrade Nicolae Ceaușescu on the occasion of his re-election as President of the Socialist Republic of Romania.

The fourth edition of the Month of Photography OFF - Berlin brings together 24 exhibitions at different locations in Berlin, like Chaussee 36, Institut français Berlin, Collection Regard  a.o.; they were selected from a longlist of submitted entries by a jury consisting of Alice Le Campion, Ana Druga, Dominique Treilhou, Marc Volk and Sonia Voss. The jury's prize was awarded to four exhibitions, including “Utopia”.

The Month of Photography OFF - Berlin opens on October  15 and goes until November 30, 2020.
