Unwrapped brings together museum objects with original art created by emerging artists and designers that have a connection with Swindon.
About
It marks the end of a yearlong project in which the group have investigated and responded to stored collections through the medium of paper and beyond. The exhibition is curated by Sophie Cummings and Julie Smith and features drawing, printmaking, illustration, costume, animation and puppetry.
Alongside the artwork, visitors will see weird and wonderful objects and collections usually kept in store. These include some of the first objects acquired by Swindon Museum in the early 20th century, such as the Higginbotham Mollusca, Miss Todd’s Wiltshire Herbarium and fossils and minerals acquired by Charles Gore, the museum’s founder.
