Painting, prints, objects, sound, text and video by an intergenerational group of women whose common values – and affective bonds – unite them in their exploration of the theme of Unseen Labour.

About

Titus Davies’s photographs invite us to look through the brick walls that conceal domestic labour, while Sophie Adams’s painting depicts the never-ending, taken for granted nature of domestic chores; Gilli Salvat’s paintings expose racist and colonialist exploitation in factories and agriculture; Marion Hack’s paintings recall the struggle against oppression and for equality; Caroline Halliday’s photographs focus on the tools of those who labour unseen; Julia Maddison’s film offers a meditation labour of the dying and those who support them. Anne O’Driscoll’s objects contain vestiges of spent energy- intersections, crises, encounters, directions , rejections, and whims; Kath Fraser explores the unseen intent of the creative process in painting and print; Judit Prieto’s paintings celebrate nature’s unseen labours and Sabrina Fuller’s sound pieces and video the transformational nature of creative resistance.
