Unpicking and rebinding; Les Bicknel

About

One-day popup gallery exhibition Les Bicknell is a Senior Lecturer in Textile Design at Norwich University of the Arts (NUA). The artworks on display form Bicknell's creative response to an Arts Council-funded project exploring the history of the fold in textiles and printed material held in three heritage collections in the Eastern region. The pieces on show were made in response to a number of objects held within three archives; The Textile and Costume Collection at Norwich Museum, the Museum of East Anglian Life (MEAL) and the Suffolk County Council Archive. They will be accompanied by photographs of some of the numerous objects which inspired them and encourage people to think about how archive material can be used as a starting point for new ideas: learning from the past to make work in the present for the future.
