We’re really excited to present Unlocking the Collection, an exhibition exploring the diversity of Loughborough University’s Arts and Crafts collection. It combines painting, print and furniture created by notable artists as well as former students and staff.
About
Loughborough University holds an exciting and diverse art collection. Situated across campus grounds and hidden away in department buildings, you will find painting, print, public sculpture and furniture in a range of styles dating from the 1950s to the present day.
Unlocking The Collection brings together a selection of pieces from the university collection containing work by notable artist’s as well as former students and staff. The exhibition aims to raise awareness of the collection, with a view to encourage students, staff and the public to take a step further and acknowledge its complexity, history and contemporary value in order to promote discussion surrounding its development and future. It provides a space to question, debate and challenge the strengths and limitations of a university collection that continues to expand.
Open Mon 12th, Wed 14th and Fri 16th, Mon 19th, Tues 20th and Thurs 22nd August 12-2pm
