Unknown Territory explores the cyclical nature of growth and decay, destruction and repair, loneliness and connection. Artists Alex Stone, Ben Topping, and Valentino Vannini have responded to the gallery space. Delving into the synergies in their practices to create a collaborative installation where the boundaries between individual work and the site becomes blurred. Working from the formal arrangement of the space – grids of many forms as a starting point. They have worked with materials ranging from concrete to lipstick to copper and hair in order to observe and conduct urban rituals and consider both past and future histories of the space. They invite the viewer to observe from the distance of the street and wander within. 

Things emerge, we turn them over and then they disappear. All that is left are fragments – memories and traces of a moment past. Unknown Territory investigates our human interactions, weaving daily rituals, the search for intimacy and the remnants left behind by our industrial living to forge new dialogues.
