The Degree Show will act as a showcase to illustrate their ongoing artistic discussions within significant thematic areas relevant to contemporary debate. These include but are not confined to: organic form; the digital age; domestic environments and the fantastical. Some individuals are further challenging the tradition of painting itself through their use of materiality or by questioning social ideologies and cultural issues. Others, simply rejoice in the immediacy of pure painterly gesture. The exhibition space will house an eclectic display of harmonious but also contrasting subject matter; creating an inspiring opportunity to explore unusual connections and intriguing dialogues between works. All the artworks will, of course, share a commonality in their conversation around lived human existence and the impassioned artists’ ability to communicate through their chosen specialism of painting. The pinnacle point of their studies; not only will the exhibition be a celebration of their shared successful journey through undergraduate art education but it creates an essential platform to establish their positions as noteworthy emerging artists.
