Paul Philp is a studio potter who has been making ceramics for over 50 years. He studied the discipline at Cardiff Art School, and has also dedicated much of his working life to building, using traditional methods of working with reclaimed stone and other materials. His ceramics, made by hand and fired multiple times, often combine clays with other combustible materials, resulting in intriguing erosions and cracks in the final surface. While acknowledging the classical serenity in his work, he encourages viewers to trust in their intuition when experiencing his pieces.
