About

Esther is a Spanish artist living in London. Although her father was a keen photographer, and family photographic sessions were part of family life when she was growing up, Esther never felt curious to look through her father’s camera viewfinder.

She purchased her first camera in her early 30’s to send snaps of her children growing up in the UK to their grandparents. Years later, Esther began drawing and painting at home to switch off from every day stresses. In 2010 she completed a two days/week City Lit Fine Art Course, and in 2011 David Cranswick introduced her to the traditional painting methods of the European Old Masters.

As a photographer, Esther’s journey started in 2014 in Abisko Park, Sweden. The beauty of the Northern Lights had a profound effect on her senses and inner world. Whilst watching “the sky dancing” she decided to learn how to use a camera to capture the Natural world. Since then, every year she visits at least one remote place where most people do not go.   Esther feels passion for capturing fleeting moments of natural history and sharing them with other people. She would like her images to provide a window to enable her audience to be there with her -and to create a conscious social awareness to protect and conserve our planet.

Her paintings have been exhibited at Mall Galleries. She was shortlisted for the Royal Society of Portrait Painters in 2016, and the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 2013 and 2017.

Her photographs have been shown in group exhibitions at Lauderdale House (2019), Bargehouse -South Bank (2018), and Base Gallery (2017).

Photography masterclass by Esther Serrano

Esther Serrano will be running a one-day Photography Masterclasses on Monday 14th October and Saturday 19th October at Collage Artspace 4 (Library Mall, 191 High Road, N22 6DZ). From 11am-4pm (4 hours). Cost £30 per person.

Details:

‘Moving from auto to manual setting’

Ditch the auto and create amazing shots using manual settings on your camera in particular, white balance, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, manual focusing and how to get the best settings for portraits, wildlife, sports, etc.

Requirements:

- bring a camera with manual settings (could be a camera, tablet or phone with manual setting capabilities). This is a practical course!  Camera with manual settings is essential – you are going to be shooting at least 50% -60% of the time.

- read a paper beforehand with the ‘basic information about manual settings’ https://digital-photography-school.com/shoot-manual-mode-cheat-sheet-beginners/

- it is essential that you check in your camera manual where the buttons are to change: Iso, speed, aperture and white balance.  You may bring your camera manual if you are not familiar with the camera.
