An exhibition highlighting the work of contemporary queer artists.

About

KKWEER ARTS is a new arts platform which will turn a spotlight on the work of LGBTQ+ visual artists across the globe. The motivation behind KKWEER ARTS is to create space to exhibit work, both physically and online with the rest of our community, and beyond, throughout the world. We will strive to create opportunities for LGBTQ+ artists to be a focal point and not just a diversity and inclusion tick box.

In less then a weeks time KKWEER ARTS debut show 'Unapologetic Sexuality' will be instaled at the Saint Georges Street Gallery in London’s Mayfair, curated by Sakib Khan. The show will feature artwork with a common theme of a range of diverse sexualities in unashamedly proud scenes.

We are delighted to be showing the work of the following 5 figurative artists:

Felipe Chavez (@felipechavez) is a figurative artist born in Colombia, now working and living in London, England. Through his paintings created with Indian Ink wash on thick 638gsm HP paper, he uses his own body to explore the male form and his relationship with sexuality and the space around him.

Kevin Kane (@kevin.kane.art) is a figurative artist who works using multiple media to create work from the dual perspectives of both a scientist and as an artist. Creating work that merges these intersections, analysing and understanding the makeup of his subjects and combining this with an array of creative approaches. Akin to that of a renaissance man, had they access to today's technology.

Sadie Lee (@sadieleeartist) is an award-winning British figurative painter. Her challenging paintings focus on a range of subjects, including the representation of women in art, sexuality, gender and the ageing body.

Graham Martin (@graham.a.martin) is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice explores notions of queer time and space - ideas informed by José Esteban Muñoz’ case for stepping outside the linearity of straight time to find utopia in the present.

Sarah Jane Moon (@sarah_jane_moon) is a painter who specialises in portraiture and figurative painting. Her work explores identity, gender and connection to place. Physically, her paintings are large, gestural and suffused with a love of colour, surface and her chosen medium: oil paint.

Alongside the work there will be sound pieces created by Yury Revich - @YuryRevich inspired by the work on show. Yury is an Austrian based violinist and composer. Named the Young Artist of the Year in 2015 by the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA) & the winner of 2016 ECHO Klassik "Newcomer of the year (violin)" award.

We also have a programme of events inspired by the artists their practise and the broader LGBTQ+ community to accompany the show, including life drawing classes and musical performances by The Trans Choir and pop superstar Nakhane.
